Barbara Kruger
MOCA - Geffen Contemporary
Los Angeles, CA

Spring
2000

The retrospective, "Barbara Kruger," the first museum survey that encompassed works from 1978 to the present, had its debut at the Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, October 17, 1999-February 13, 2000. Curated by MOCA's Ann Goldstein, the exhibition featured her bold, signature paintings that fuse photography, text and graphic design, as well as several multimedia installations. The exhibition nicely utilized this most unique structure and her large-scale pieces were shown to their optimum advantage. Among other venues, the show may be seen at the Whitney Museum of American Art, July 13-October 22, 2000.
